Education & Opportunity

Strong schools are the backbone of a strong democracy

From pre-K through college, every child deserves a fully funded public education that opens doors and ensures opportunities. I will protect teachers, strengthen schools, and make sure our kids graduate with the skills and confidence to build Nevada’s future without the burden of lifelong student debt.

Behind every student’s success is a teacher who shows up every day ready to do the work that shapes our future. Nevada’s teachers, parents, and students deserve leadership that listens, invests, and stands up for public education. I’ll fight to raise teacher pay, expand vocational and technical programs, and make college and apprenticeships truly accessible for every Nevadan.

I know from experience that real investment in education begins with valuing the people at the heart of it. Teachers do far more than instruct. They feed hungry students, comfort those in crisis, and open doors to possibility every single day. They deserve respect, fair pay, and the right to teach with dignity and autonomy. That includes strong support for teachers’ unions because when educators have a voice, students have an advocate.

A classroom scene with students raising their hands and participating while a teacher stands at the front, smiling. The room has a whiteboard, posters, and desks with books and supplies.

When we invest in teachers, we invest in the communities they serve. Strong public schools are the backbone of every town in Nevada, from West Wendover to Reno and every rural town in between.

Public money belongs in public schools, not diverted to private entities that pick and choose who they educate. Our neighborhood schools are the heart of our communities, where every child, regardless of background or ability, is welcomed, challenged, and cared for.

Yes, there is work to be done within the system, but that work starts by cutting back on excessive testing, corporate-driven programs, and scripted curricula that strip teachers of creativity and drain funding away from classrooms. Too many outside companies profit from education dollars that should be invested in students, not testing corporations.

I will fight to put those dollars back where they belong, in classrooms, in teacher salaries, and in programs that build real opportunity. Because the future of our democracy depends on an educated, empowered generation and the teachers who make that possible.

Knowledge is power, and power belongs to the people.
